Froge first turned up on an OpenAI employee’s laptop — a tiny green sticker in the middle of the lab that built ChatGPT. The New York Times photographed it in the office and called it an unofficial company mascot.
The Washington Post later helped push the same rumor into the mainstream: that this worried little frog was OpenAI’s unofficial official mascot. Not a press kit. Not a brand guide. Just a frog that refused to leave the timeline.
That office cameo is the origin of $FROGE. The meme hopped from a research laptop onto Robinhood Chain so the internet could finally own the frog that sat next to the models.
